The First Annual Action Sudbury/ STOP Enforcement Ride
Now here's a good idea! Take law enforcement snowmobilers from all kinds of departments ( C.N., C.P., O.P.P., R.C.M.P., S.T.O.P., Sudbury Regional Police Service & O.F.S.C. Trail Wardens) and get them to provide information sessions to teens on the trails. This was the first Action Sudbury/ S.T.O.P. Enforcement Ride.
The promotional media was invited to ride along and we witnessed the roots of a program that will definitely be mainstream in a neighborhood near you. The first annual ride started at the Town of Capreol's Winter Carnival. Before trekking off on the ride participants rode trough an obstacle course. The course included a serpentine, S curve, stop & R.R. crossing.
After completion of the obstacle course the group departed the winter carnival and proceeded on a snowmobile ride. While enjoying a trail side lunch at ELLA Lake Park, the Young Snowmobilers enjoyed a presentation from Cst. Norm Lamarche of C.P. Police. Norm discussed how Snowmobiles and Trains do not mix.

After the trail side lunch the group went for another ride. When the group returned to the Capreol Winter Carnival, Spl Cst N.C. Hein, O.F.S.C. S.T.O.P. Sudbury Area Coordinator, held a brief discussion with the group regarding snowmobile safety. Certificates of participation and Prizes were then handed out to the participants. The ride was open to all snowmobilers between the ages of 12 to 16. The snowmobilers were required to supply there own Snowmobiles. The was no fee for the registration. Action Sudbury & S.T.O.P. Sudbury sponsored the free trail side lunch. The menu for this first ever Action Sudbury/ Stop Enforcement Ride during the Capreol Winter Carnival of 1999 included: Pop, Hot chocolate, hot dogs, Butter tarts, chips & a great time!
